"six movements" is scored for two flutes and piano. It was commissioned by the Pennsylvania Music Teacher's Association and Music Teachers National Association. It is written for Naomi Seidman, Ashley Shank, and Christopher Guzman.
This work is a sequel to my previous four movements for flute and piano. That work, as this one, was a collection of homages to some of the people who were influences on my artistic and intellectual lives. Unconsciously, I had gendered the first work with homages to men. Consciously, I chose to devote these sequel homages to some of the women who have had major influence on my artistic life. The artists are:
